Overview
The Senior Substation Engineer serves as a technical specialist but may also be asked to participate in some management and marketing responsibilities. Acts as a senior engineer of the department. Responsible for technical development in the electrical engineering discipline.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Ensure accurate and compliant designs, including one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, physical layouts, bus work, ground grids, conduit systems, and equipment placement for high voltage substations. The ability to look up, understand, assist, and order the appropriate materials needed for each design.
- Verify adherence to client, utility, and regulatory standards (e.g., IEEE, NESC).
- Address complex technical challenges, such as optimizing layouts or troubleshooting design issues.
- Support project schedules to meet milestones and deliverables.
- Work closely with other disciplines (protection & control, civil/structural) and external stakeholders (clients, utilities).
- Review and approve drawings, calculations, and technical reports.
- Mentor junior engineers and designers, reviewing their work and providing constructive feedback.
- Serve as the main technical point of contact for clients, addressing inquiries and presenting solutions.
- Deliver high-quality designs that meet client expectations and industry standards.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree required, with specialization in the electrical discipline.
- 8+ years of previous consulting or substation engineering/design experience.
- Ohio PE License. May be working towards certification.
