Overview
The successful candidate for this role will have 15 years experience in planning, design and construction administration services for a variety of public and private capital and maintenance projects involving mechanical piping design such as hydronic heating, chilled water, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems, plumbing, fire protection, process piping, industrial ventilation, piping design and layout for process systems, stress analysis, code/pressure vessel design, welding and materials design, pipe support systems, air, natural gas, nitrogen, steam, water, liquid fuels and process fluids. Mechanical Senior Engineers act as a senior, advanced engineer responsible for technical development in the Mechanical Engineering Department and report directly to the Department Manager for administrative purposes and project managers for project-related issues. May lead one large project or a number of small projects, usually coordinating the work of less experienced engineers, technical assistants, and drafters. They work closely with the directors, managers, and engineering staff to ensure our client’s needs and expectations are exceeded.
Responsibilities
- Serves as Project Manager on single discipline projects.
- Serves as Lead Engineer on projects to interface with other departments in order to support the mechanical engineering effort. Directs designers and / or drafters assigned to the department.
- Assists with development of proposals and project documentation.
- Knows, follows, reviews and mentors in design tasks for completion of routine and simple pipe routing and layouts.
- Knows, follows, reviews and mentors in design tasks for preparation of drawings including piping plans, sections, details and isometrics.
- Proactive in coordinating other disciplines’ tasks with their own.
- Knows, follows, reviews and mentors in techniques for estimating engineering manhours estimates and for documenting bill of materials / project scope.
- Knows, follows, reviews and mentors in techniques for pipe support design.
- Knows, follows, reviews and mentors in techniques for routine and simple hydraulic calculations including incompressible flow, compressible flow and networks.
- Knows, follows, reviews and mentors in design tasks for completion of routine and simple duct routing and layouts.
- Knows, follows, reviews and mentors in design tasks for completion of routine and simple plumbing routing and layouts.
- Knows, follows, reviews and mentors in techniques for preforming routine and simple Heating/AC and ventilation load calculations.
- Performs field measurements independently and mentors others in the same.
- Performs and directs construction support on routine and simple projects.
- Responsible for meeting their scope, schedule and budget on projects.
Requirements
- Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Ohio PE License required.
- Must have knowledge of applicable building codes.
- Proficient in the use of AutoCAD and Revit.
- Proficient in the PC/windows environment with experience in e-mail, word processing, spreadsheets, etc.
- Ability to delegate tasks and duties.
- Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
- Possess excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
