Overview
The Marketing Department Manager is responsible for overseeing a team of marketing professionals within the marketing department. Duties include overseeing the implementation of marketing strategies campaigns to promote business services, and hiring and training department employees.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Manages the company’s marketing and public relations efforts.
- Creates marketing campaigns to promote current and new services to current clients or potential clients. Reviewing current marketing campaigns for weaknesses and developing solutions within budget constraints.
- May participate in market research to determine the best way market/advertise. Collaborates with HR on social media for recruiting and retention.
- Prepares budgets and financial forecasts to help management make informed decisions about spending priorities. Manages and coordinates the marketing budgets.

Brainstorms fresh advertising ideas with market leaders and manages rollouts.
- Leads and manages the marketing team to ensure the successful implementation of marketing and public relations initiatives.
- Hires, trains, supervises, motivates, and develops staff; manages schedules and workflow.
- Provides day-to-day guidance and oversight of subordinates; actively works to promote and recognize performance.

Manages and coordinates promotional events for marketing, recruiting, and client development.

Participates in the selection and purchase of SWAG for clients and employees; oversees the SWAG site to ensure good selections, updates and internal marketing of products to employees.

Identifies new creative approaches to marketing, PR and business development.

Ensures consistent message from and about the organization, its markets, subsidiaries, partnerships, initiatives, community involvement and projects.
- Gathers input from leadership to ensure project information and initiatives are up to date on the website and in social media announcements, and efforts are aligned with the organization’s overall mission and vision.
- Contributes to company’s short- and long-range planning, identifying areas for new opportunities.
- Establishes appropriate internal systems to support marketing and PR efforts that are consistent with the company’s growth and reporting requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) or equivalent work experience.
- 10+ years related experience or equivalent.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. Skill with marketing/PR-specific software a plus.
- Strong leadership and management skills.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- The ability to think strategically and creatively.
- Basic competence in duties and tasks of supervised employees.
- Working knowledge of data collection, data analysis, and evaluation.
