R.E. Warner’s structural team is enhancing efficiency and design by employing creative and strategic uses of technology.
In one instance, our team has been strategically modeling rebar in select complex areas of industrial plants. This approach has decreased the needed time for drawing production as well assisted the designers with accurate location of rebar.
In another instance, our team is integrating models and data to complete design for an industrial facility renovation in a pseudo-design/build approach. This results in answering contractor questions now, before construction, whereas in a traditional design-bid-build sequence these matters would be addressed as RFIs during construction.
The team is using a 3D scan provided by the client, field measurements taken by the contractor, an equipment model developed by a vendor, and REW’s own model of duct work and existing structure to ultimately produce a set of general arrangement, structural, and mechanical drawings for an industrial renovation. In meetings, the engineer is able to “fly” through the compiled model to collaborate on solutions.
In both of these projects, our team’s innovative approaches are not just enhancing efficiency and design but also collaboration among our firm, the client, consultants and vendors on the team.
